Paddon Award 2016 Online Exhibition

This online exhibition gallery features the shortlisted entries for the 2016 cross-arts competition at the University of Exeter, the Paddon Award.  This annual competition is open to students, staff and alumni of the University, not working in the professional arts.  This year entries were invited on the theme of 'celebration', to coincide with the University's Diamond Jubilee year.

Categories for entries for the Paddon Award are:

  • Visual Arts – a painting, illustration, sculpture, print or photograph
  • Prose  - poem or short story
  • Film – a short film
  • Musical composition – an original piece of music

Shortlisted entries were judged by an esteemed judging panel at the Paddon Awards event on 16 March 2016. The panel comprised Alexander Beleschenko, who created the wonderful glass artwork Path in the windows of the University's Forum Building and who is an Honorary Graduate of the University of Exeter, Michael Jecks the medieval murder mystery writer and Katie O'Connor, the Student Guild Vice President for Activities.

This year's winner was Christy Ku, for her film Look at Yourself.  Second prize was won by Peter Tse for his poem Gung Hey Fat Choi (Happy Chinese New Year), and third prize was won by Eloise Sims for her poem The Smallest of Celebrations.
