Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Student societies Lightbox: the Creative Collective, XTV and artist Anna Best have come together with Arts and Culture at the University of Exeter to showcase their intriguing, thought-provoking films – The Tangle (Anna Best), and Ice Age Coming (XTV).
Through storytelling, sound and imagery, the two films are a source of creative inspiration. This event will show both films, followed by a panel discussion lead by Lightbox: The Creative Collective. The discussion will then be opened up to the floor.
Anna Best’s short film, The Tangle, was made over the summer of 2018 with participants including residents and school children from the new town of Cranbrook and staff from the University of Exeter. The film is a collage of ingredients including the Golden Goose tale, the digging of an underground tunnel, exotic trees from the University of Exeter, girls with golden hair and a show home in Cranbrook. Anna has worked with public art institutions such as Tate Modern, the Barbican and Whitstable Biennial.
XTV is the University of Exeter's official student run TV station. Their short film, Ice Age Coming, follows a man's discovery of how his life collapsed and why he has got to this point. Shot over three weekends, this film was made entirely by students without additional funding or professional support.
All are welcome to come and watch the films, hear the film-makers talk about their work and ask them questions.
This film screening is a free event, and no booking is required. All welcome.
