Climate and Environment

Across our shared campus both Falmouth University and the University of Exeter have many research networks, groups and individuals interested in exploring different disciplinary perspectives on themes of environmental change, ecological citizenship and sustainable futures. 

The [FX Creative Exchange Programme](https://www.exeter.ac.uk/esi/community/creativeexchange/) is an opportunity to play with possibilities around these themes; it is the explorative process that the programme aims to support as we believe this approach leads to genuine trans-disciplinary working. The programme facilitates collaboration between researchers, community partners and creative practitioners; in doing so it aims to support Cornwall’s creative industries and stimulate opportunities for dynamic public engagement and knowledge exchange.  

FX Creative Exchange is co-funded through a partnership between Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI), Falmouth University, and Exeter Arts and Culture. This is a pilot phase of a renewed programme, building on a decade of creative exchange collaborations.

# FX Creative Exchange 2025 
## Perspective Shifts 

‘Perspective Shifts’ brought together Dr Emmylou Rahtz, Research Fellow at the University of Exeter’s European Centre for Environment and Human Health in Penryn, and Phyllida Bluemel, Lecturer in Illustration at Falmouth University.

Between April and July 2025, the pair explored the effect of scale and awe in nature, focusing on individuals' sense of orientation in relation to the environment. Together they examined how people perceive the world and their place within it, and how this affects their connection to the environment.
